Fucking Closure.

I am back from Buenos Aires and have reached a looking forward point, finally.
Editing has been held up by a fried Mac.  Not to be discouraged at this point, I am focusing on the writing, using a horrid little PC tablet with sticky keys for the purpose. I wish I could at least look at my footage, but suspect this is to turn my focus toward the narrative I must write.

Tragar, Llorar, Coger" is my sole occupation now. No more theater productions to break my computer this year.

Below is a blues band I videotaped in Dorrego Plaza.
I also made a unique friend in the bass player, Patricio.
Telmo!
Patricio gave me a crash course in Machista culture, as well as the final key to the story. It was as if all sorts of stray ideas gelled into understanding.
Now I have to pull together 8 years of experience into a coherent narrative. thank god I keep journals, if not much of a blogger jajaja!

Stop Planning!

I have discovered that I am habitually killing my chance at inspired living by trying to plan it. After years of systematically letting people down, so I wouldn't be responsible to them, their expectations, their projections of distant parent or lover onto me...for me to act out, or act different I am not sure which.

I am not planning anymore. I have no idea why I am going to Buenos Aires..again. I just know I will not have to do anything, and that I will have art supplies, a sunny roof and two kitties to keep my company.

For the last time, I will go to Buenos Aires. With no expectations except to take a break. No people I must see, or film, nothing I 'have to do".  Not even bringing dance shoes. I am bringing the yoga mat, and will be doing some serious practice, even if only alone.

Coming in January 2010

This page is the future site of the memoir film "Drink Cry Fuck" , due for release Jan 2010, and the daily blog of filmmaker Kat Eiswald's return to Argentina to get closure, and release forms, from the participants of her document.

I was a promising filmmaker in an unhappy marriage in 2003, when I first went to Argentina to attend the International Tango Congress of Buenos Aires. In less than a week, my life was complete turned upside down, both good and bad, and never to be the same again.

It took several more trips, and 7 years, to fully digest the events of 2003. For several years, I was confident that I would never do anything with the 60+ hours of footage I shot in Buenos Aires between 2003-2006. This included rare interviews of family and friends of Astor Piazzolla, and a view of Buenos Aires during a time of great upheaval when the city was inundated with demonstrations, daily, for several years.

Before September 2010, I will have a kickstarter project online. For all donors, I will be providing access to a private daily blog, when I return to Buenos Aires.
